All month long I’ll be doing one painting per day in order to build up a habit of artistic expression. I’d love to be confident enough to illustrate my stories for myself and my family, and making painting a daily practice is the first step.
Day 12: A Quick Dream Scape
For today’s painting, I sort of slopped together a quick dream scape, with a bright moon and stars that shone in the water below. I wanted to use that same violet color I played with yesterday, but in a new context.
It’s not really showing up in the picture, but the violet gives it a nice, iridescent sort of feeling. Also, the canvas isn’t quite so obvious in person either. This is one that doesn’t quite hold up to photography. I might need to rethink some techniques – things that work in a painting don’t always translate into the digital copy, and that seems like an important thing to consider for illustration.
