Even though I haven’t had the time to devote myself to any diligent study of drawing or painting, I always find time to dabble a little just for fun. Here is just a sampling of my favorite results.
I finally decided to start filling in my favorite coloring book, Rackham’s Fairy Tale Coloring Book. I’ve been intimidated by this gorgeously illustrated book for a long time, but I am pleased with how my initial colorings have come out.

Before that, I decided to play with water colors. I tried some different techniques, to varying degrees of success. These next few samples represent the range of my experiments.
This summer I plan to work through a few independent drawing courses and work on my water color skills with a friend. I plan to scout out every tutorial on the web, and end my summer wholly improved in my favorite hobby.

One of my favorite things about drawing or painting is the way it sort of shifts my vision. I suddenly start noticing details I never noticed before, even with subjects that I thought I was familiar with.

I’m doing a drawing course (through a book) and in my current exercise I’m not supposed to lift the pencil. That really makes the details jump out!
