This month, I’m posting one painting per day. Today, I’m stretching the rules a little because I only got about half way through yesterday. Luckily, I called my series “30 Days of Painting” rather than “30 Separate Paintings This Month”. Welcome to the series!
Day 22: The Finished Barn
Today, I jumped back into my painting from yesterday and put on the finishing touches. While this barn was loosely based on one I’d seen in real life, but this one sort of took a little turn and became something new. Photorealism isn’t really my style anyway – I’ve always been more drawn to illustrative and impressionistic styles.

You say photorealism isn’t your thing, but this has a sense of realism nonetheless. Have you checked out James Gurney’s book on imaginative realism?

I haven’t yet, but I now plan to – thank you for the recommendation!
