For 30 days, I’ll be doing one painting per day, and posting my results here.
Day 14: Misadventures in Water Color
Today I just wanted to play a little with water colors. I had no scene in mind, so I just pushed some colors around with water to get a feel for how they blend. I mostly paint with acrylics, and the water colors are taking some getting used to.
I need some more practice at this, but I had fun. I can see how the colors start to give rise to a shape. If I had more time, I would turn this into the bank of lake at sunrise, in Autumn. The dark red in the lower left corner would be bank, andy he water would blend into the yellowing sky, separated by a far off wall of fir trees.
Unfortunately, in contemplating this possibility, I glopped a bit of green in the middle and ruined the whole thing, so I can’t come back and try that out. Ah well, misadventures in water color.
It’s all part of the learning process, right?
