Welcome to 30 Days of Painting. Inspired by the blog Of Robots and Whales‘ 30 Days of Python, I’m doing a small painting project every day for 30 days in order to become more comfortable with the paint brush. I’d love to be able to illustrate stories for myself and my family.
Day 11: A Color Study
Today’s piece was a quick one. I grabbed a bottle of violet acrylic paint that I’d never really used before, and decided to play. I supplemented my work with a shade of cream and a shade of green, and just had some fun pushing the colors around until I felt like it was finished. There’s just something so lovely and calming about playing with acrylics.
I like to think it’s an extreme close up of a grassy meadow full of wild flowers, but others seem to think it looks like seaweed. I’m not opposed to that interpretation.
